    Hi everyone
My Y axis is jamming, it seems as though the two motors are apposing each other.
    Can anyone please advise.

    Hi Sharmatr
    Thanks for responding.
My knowledge on grbl is limited... how would I do that, is it a $?
I must be honest, I find that it is assumed that everyone is born with a certain amount
of knowledge. Me, I am a clean slate... :)

Most likely wiring. Either you forgot to reverse the coil order on the 2nd motor, or the terminals are improperly installed and only 3 of the 4 wires are making contact

    Hi Peter
I bought the machine partly assembled, Wiring already done, though I did have a problem with the Z axis not working.
Turns out one of the wires in the plug was shorting against the metal plug cover.
Sharmstr said to invert one of the Y Motors in the grbl setting.
Does this mean that I must change $3 value...will have to try different combos. Do you think this might work.
Oh, and thanks for the response.
    Matt

No. Ignore what I said. I was thinking you could invert one of the Y motors. Peter's advice is correct: Y axis jamming Sorry!

But it worked fine before I reset everything?
I cant believe that this is the first time this has happened, I have seen threads with the same issue.
Surely there is a definitive answer. So what is your first answer for?
Please can you explain it to me so I understand.
    Matt

Wiring is always fine, until it isn't anymore (borrowing this quote from someone on the forum here, cannot find it right away to give credit, but it is very true and a very good saying)

Somewhere along the way a wire slipped out of a terminal, or a stress-point in your cable routing caused a wire to break off somewhere inside the insulation from the back-and-forth bending.

docs:blackbox:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation] covers the procedure to test the wiring - though often a quick inspection of all terminals may find one loose as well. Also note your symptoms are present in the first paragraph of this FAQ page

Not applicable to your issue upon further inspection, lets move on from that :)

    Hi Peter
I checked for continuity on my motors, they were all good.
I sent the control unit back to the supplier as they think the problem might be on that
side. The motors were running in the same direction after all .I haven't worked with electronics for 15 years, so didn't want to chance it.
I will post the results in case some else runs into the same issue.
    Matt
