I purchased the BlackBox Motion Control System during the Father's Day sale. I have completed the build and would like to test it with my existing stepper motors. However, I do not currently have a 24 volt power supply.

I want to know if I can use a 12 volt supply just to test it. I have a 36 volt supply that I currently use to power my old CNC machine that I built more than 15 years ago. The "What is Included" indicates a 24V Cooling Fan. Is 24V the Max input for this controller?

Thanks in advance for any help.

19-24v is the only tested range. Probably worth waiting till you have a 24v as recommended, wouldnt want to let the magic smoke out

Thanks for the information. With my experience, whenever the magic smoke came out, it no longer works.

    Hey
    Pete! :)

Is it still true that no tests have been done with the blackbox on a 36v powersupply?

    Ok!

I'm looking into modifying a CNC a friend has, and i was about to buy another blackbox for him but i'll look into the needs for motors and see if we can manage to get enough current to drive the motors on the standard mean well 24V :)

Thanks again for the great help, love that comunitity!

    Hello.

Because i don't want to open a new thread for the same question.

I have a WEHO power supply at 24v / 10A 250W. Because the watts are not the same 350W what limits will i have ??

Also has anyone used this brand of power supply? Is this a good brand ?

    Thank you.

Whats the rest of your system, what motors, what controller, etc - ie what else will be powered by the PSU?

    Thank you for your answer.

My controller is a blackbox ( Today i have received it :) )

I have 3 motors 57BYGH420P1-1. C-Beam CNC . Nothing else . The router will be powered from external psu.

Anything else will be powered from different power supply.

Do you have a complete datasheet so we can check coil resistance, inductance and coil voltage ratings?
