Any questions about using a 40-60W tube can be addressed at www.buildlog.net He has a V2.0 of a laser machine that is real neat. Bart is the fellow who ran the Kickstarter project for the MakerSlide product that got a lot of these types of projects running.

When they ('Laser V') boards are in we will let you guys know and post them on the part store under electronics section.
At this time our target price is $49.95 we feel this is a great starting point for this board that is sure to inspire many awesome projects!

    Hi,
I was working on a similar project, to upgrade my laser.
I had already designed a PCB to control the laser, but I was not satisfied...

    (FOR NOW)
    This is my laser:

and this is the control board:

On the video I haven't show the laser driver, which is designed with an LT3083.

After the first PCB, with some improvements in mind I've designed the second version, with everything on a single board (motor controller & laser driver).
    This:
    http://imageshack.com/a/img138/3341/bi0m.png
    [IMG]

The board is designed to work with GRBL, without changes.

The new PCB is currently in production. :D

    PS: sorry for my English

    Very cool stuff @oni305 !
Looks like you have done a nice job on this design.
Are you using g-code sender for control?
Also is this your blogspot? http://focussls.blogspot.it/ If so nice job on this build!

Agreed very cool, I see you have a z axis :)
I decided not to add it because I don't change the focus of the laser that often and feel its a waste of electronics

It's amazing as they say there is always someone on this planet that has the same hobbys and interests :)
    Awesome!

    Thanks :D
    I'm using GRBL Controller http://zapmaker.org/projects/grbl-controller-3-0/
No it's not my blog, but i've used the part of his SLS to assembly my laser, but i'm not so satisfied with this design (the M8 rod aren't so rigid, it flect for length over 50 cm)
So the next step is dismantle and rebuild with the vslot ;)
(for curiosity, what is the maximum continuous length that you can send to italy? [the link on the FAQ don't work:(])

    Thanks :D
I've designed the PCB with the Z axis, because this board is 100% GRBL compatible and there was enough space on the PCB to fit the third axis (5x10 cm)

Good deal thanks for the reply @oni305 Looking forward to seeing the VSlot version of this machine!
Itlay has a max shipping lenght of 60" so the 1.5m would work
Thanks for the tip (fixed it)

    Hi Rob,
Came across your build while searching for a DIY build. Awesome work and write up. Just a quick question though what was the name of the software you were using to design the pcb?

    ExpressPCB
It's a free software from a PCB manufacturing service like fitz.
I have put the software in the resources section and also in the files part of my build log.
    File name is LDPCB.zip
A copy of the boards layout is included in the zip file for all to mod as needed.
Main reason I included the software with my layout is because the odds of most finding the same relay as I use may be hard for some and I encourage anyone to improve on its layout and share

    Ty my friend :)
All that's left is the top window that I just finished also.
I was going to do a folding top but then decided to go with a sliding one ,like a window

Congrats on the completion of the main parts of the Laser V build Robert, it turned out fantastic!
So is the board mounting on the inside to the acrylic? I'm still looking forward to seeing it complete door and all :)

Should have the window shield in soon, found something that should work well :)
As for the controls still not sure.
I tried the box maker in the resources but didn't have any luck

    Hi guys!

Has enyone figured out, how to engrave photos? Actually, how to convert them to grbl g-code for laser.
    Not vector, but raster engraving.

Robert, great driver! Works like a charm!
