My Porter-Cable 690 router stopped working due to worn-out brushes. It also made loud noises and I thought it had bad bearing. My shop teacher at the program for mentally-handicapped people bought me a new Dewalt DW618 router. I ran it today and it worked good. I'm worried about the 1/4" to 1/2" adapter that fit into 1/2" collet. Do I need 1/4" collet?

Were you able to mount the dw618 to your cnc? I've been looking for a spindle mount for my 1515 for this very same situation....

At least 10 years ago, my shop teacher got me a CNC router built into a cabinet. It was used by a school. I had to replace the electronics with new ones. It was built like an Army tank. I'm not sure if the LEAD machines are strong enough for heavier full-size router motors.
