    Hi,

Yesterday i received a new X32 controller and im stoked about it.

Im working on converting a Redsail RS1318 from a DSP controller (Richauto A11 look a like to Openbuilds X32. I have removed the old DSP controller card and i have traced and tagged all the wires for stop switches and the motors etc. and im ready to connect everything together.

But i dont understand how i connect X32 to Moons SR4 step motor drivers and i dont want to burn them.

On the X32 controller i have the output A+, A-, B+, B- and on the Moons Step driver i have the signal input STEP+, STEP-, DIR+, DIR-. How do i connect them together? Moons step driver already have high voltage outputs A+, A-, B+, B- connected directly to the motors.

    Best regards,

BlackBox wires directly to BiPolar motors, it does not connect to external drivers. It has onboard drivers already

Find your motors electrical specs (resistance, inductance, etc) for us to confirm compatibility

Also see docs.openbuilds.com/blackbox to learn about wiring to prevent any damage

    Thank you for quick reply.

Ok, so its not possible to connect them together?

The biggest motors are named: Moons 23HS3422-11.

My Moons Step motor drivers are adjusted to 4,5A peak from factory, and i know X32 are rated for 4A. I uploaded a picture from the driver manual.

This motor is not on the provided datasheet

Basically you want to check that you have
    • Bipolar Motors
    • 3-6v Coil rating (higher will be slow on acceleration)
    • 1-2mH Inductance (higher will limit top speeds)
    • 1.7-4A Max Current

    If not, consider our motors

Well give them a try, if they feel sluggish or underpowered, stalls under speed etc - we can look at our motors

Thank you i will definetly look at your motors. I will drive them slow to be safe. And thank you so much for the help so far!

I also need some help with this VFD. Its chinese and no documentation. You have any tips for connection? its not on the list in the manuals with the x32.

Would have to try locating a manual for it
