I read a number of threads on this forum about cutting V-Slot, but none of them mentioned using one's OpenBuilds V-Slot CNC to do it. Is that a bad idea? Is the V-Slot aluminum the wrong grade?

I imagine clamping V-Slot to one's table and just passing the router orthogonal to the length of the V-Slot, incrementally lowering the Z-axis. Is that a reasonable technique to use if one doesn't want to invest in a miter saw/chop saw/table saw, or hack away with a hack saw?

Nothing wrong with the concept. I would suggest though leaving a little extra and then using a clean up pass.
