All electronics from openbuilds Even the rotary stepper motor disconnect aliexpress one and bought extra from openbuilds
Then the red indicator is odd. Double check wiring. See 2nd half of docs:blackbox-x32:currentadjustment [OpenBuilds Documentation] On our TripleZ Leads we run 3x motors on a single driver. Double should be a walk in the park, perhaps with acceleration or max rate tuned a little lower, but more than capable
I changed y axis wires and connections , decreased acceleration from 350 to 100 and slowly increasing current, with max current it’s moving up to 1780 any more will stalling Decreased current little and same speed Then turned off swap Y with X axis Its move same speed with higher acceleration After 3 minutes both x and y red l light (Y is too late to show it was in rest for 3 mintuts + swapping wires time)
Another little problem 2 time happened in 20 minutes , jogging any axis no response but controller software show continuous movement even if I release button , until click abort then become ok
Im not sure but maybe that’s because double stepper First time happen when jog Y axis But in video i jog X axis (2 Y axis motors connected)
Doubles will be a bit slower, but we run 3x motors on these kits Multi Z LEAD Machine Addon on a single axis.
It shouldn't be huge. But some difference is expected. The other issues of Fault Indicators etc indicates something is wrong first that when fixed would likely get it working faster Is it our PSU?
Are you using our PSU? I am trying to see what might be different in your setup. We run BlackBox with our motors as dual Ys all the time. Up to 3 motors on the TripleZ machines and Z works harder than Y. It shouldn't be like that, so the hunt is on for whats different
yes psu from openbuilds just disconnected wires from Blackbox x4 to blackbox32 , all electronics less than year (before bb32 released few days ) with very light use , machine moves smoothly with BBx4 if y1 on y1 , y2 on y2 (* i think i said in comments yesterday i tried 2 y in y1 with BB x4 , better than BB32 a little but still not good ) Sorry if didn’t but I think i did
So if you do Y's seperate on BBX32, does that improve. It should be the same or better as 4X when correctly set up per docs:blackbox-x32:currentadjustment [OpenBuilds Documentation] provided you have 1) up to date firmware 2) exact same grbl settings 3) none of the grblhal specific settings changed from default 4) same wiring.
Ok changed firmware to 2/3axis dula Y as normal blackbox 4 its good moving 3500 smoothly With grbl backup setting problem only become with dual Y in one driver
Ok, when adding the 2nd motor, did you add a little (just a little at a time, to avoid overheating) current to Y1 to compensate for the extra motor. Fine balance between enough, and oops too much now you are overheating. Make sure airflow is not obstructed
You mean give it time before join 2 motors? Yes , i take long time to disconnect/connect and arrange wires BB out side of the table and AC blowing air to me and the blackbox
No i dont mean time. I mean 1) using docs:blackbox-x32:currentadjustment [OpenBuilds Documentation] to add a little (very little at a time) current to the combination of two motors. Together they do need a little more power. But adjusted carefully to avoid overheating. And (2) i mean i dont know where you have your BlackBox but people put them in all kinds of enclosures, drawers, etc so when I say check that airflow is not obstructed i mean is it able to get fresh cool air for the fan to move over the heatsinks to avoid overheating driver than leads to red fault led
oh ok for current adjustment i did slowly but will try slower BB box is out side of the table hanging vertically on MDF board ( BB body is cool )
when I was looking into moving my OX from dual Y drivers to single driver runnign both motors I found a number of web pages advising connecting the motors in series. not parallel. I did that and it works perfectly. in parallel the motors get the full voltage but half the current in series the motors get half the voltage but full current. worth a try since these motors appear to want more current
It is, but harder to wire, so I avoid the suggestion as long as possible. Read docs:blackbox-x32:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation] to understand the inner workings a little better, and then view that in context of If you want to give it a try
I tried but every one moving opposite than other Because I’m not smart in electronics Tried again with simpler method **photo below* same result not sure i did wrong or this one for belt driven machines but i think will work after fix , I heard that strong sound when motors start holding will google it I think I’m close
Now it moves up to 2100 with not comfortable sound and little vibration, 2500 loss steps (I tried with BBx4 at max current , i don’t think 32 will do better as the driver lighting red some times ) Much batter than parallel which impossible to move 1mm if exceed ~1700mm/m But feel on 1200mm/m in parallel is more quite thank you for help i really appreciate I think better to switch wires to BB x4 when non 4axis projects and BB32 for 4axis as it doesn’t need lot of Y movement, that’s not my preferred but i think the best solution for now, until figuring how to connect external driver properly
