every thing looks good in Aspire but as soon as I upload the file to open builds control it cuts off an inch in the top and side and does not cut the way it should. The machine cuts perfectly but it seems to be the program throwing it off. Any input or ideas would be significant!

When you say "it cuts off an inch in the top and side and does not cut the way it should" which side is it cutting off?
How are you setting your XY zero point?
Where did you choose the work piece XYZ zero point in Aspire when you set up your work stock?
Do you have a picture of the work piece where the cut was off?

it's cutting the top and right side but when looking at open builds software the preview shows that is cutting it off. I have aspire to start at the left corner. don't mind the laser I was doing some testing, but it also seems that the laser when I switch over does the same thing

Im sorry, I totally don't understand what you are trying to say. Looking at the picture it looks like the machine is cutting on the outside a little deeper than the inside and it does it in the laser mode too. That is strictly mechanical and not software. there is a "bump" in your machine. It could be the table is not even or that the railing the gantry runs on has the bump.

the whole cut is supposed to have an edge and not cut off to the end of the job piece. It's cutting it like the board is too small. its suppose to have a half inch from the edge of the board but it just keeps going off the job. Tried shrinking the job so it would stay on the board but it just makes the right side have a bigger edge and pushes it of the edge in every other direction.

And the stepper motors beforehand where not the greatest so I went ahead and got the openbuilds Nema 23s and we are still in the same boat. I did all of the calibrations for them and all but still seems to cut off the job site.

How did you find and set your XY zero point? Did you use a probe? Did you remember to put the right diameter of endmill in for your probing routine (if you used a probe)?

It looks to me like you either did not properly probe the edge so your machine did not have the exact right XY zero point, or your machine is not calibrated. However, it looks like you have an equal boundary along the edges of what I believe to be your XY zero point (circled below). Therefore, I believe you zeroed properly so It is either a calibration problem, or your design was made for a board that is larger than what you are using.

i used the z probe from openbuilds. board and job dimensions are set right. I just calibrated it. I'm gonna go look at it again.

Calibrate over the longest length (1000 mm if possible) you can using a very "pointy" endmill so you can more accurately see the distance or travel on your tape measure/meter stick. 10mm, or even 100mm, will not get you a super accurate calibration.

Went ahead and did bigger lengths and seems to be cutting a lot better. I appreciate all the help!
