Good evening all, I have an issue, which has come to light, it is to do with matching curves on my openbuilds ox. Running openbuilds X32 controller and fusion 360 as the design software. When machining on some curves the speed is incredibly slow, so much so that the router bit is squealing like mad. I have attached a video for reference. I imagine it's a fusion setup thing, hopefully somebody has experience in this. Many thanks in advance. James.
What Fusion Post Processor are you using? Is it the OpenBuilds PP (Home), or a generic GRBL Post processor?
I'm not sure I understand? Do you mean the control software? I'm using the openbuilds control software if that's what you mean?
No, @Giarc is asking which post processor you are using in Fusion 360 - when you post process your toolpath in cam to create the g-code file. The generic grbl post processor from Autodesk is not very good - Openbuilds have their own one which works correctly with Openbuilds Control. docs:software:fusion360 [OpenBuilds Documentation] Alex.
Aah, I did follow the link and wondered if it was that, I will have to download that and try using it, it's almost like fusion is making too many direction changes and slowing down for each. Will try that out and report back. Thanks both.
Just be aware that; A) you must home your machine - the post processor uses the machine co-ordinate system for safety moves. B) if you don't choose a workplace co-ordinate system (wcs) in Fusion cam the post processor will give you a message saying its using the default (first one - G54) - that's just for information, not an error message. I've actually gotten a little OCD about homing my machine, I do it between tool changes and every time I turn the machine on. I have checked and it's never losing steps now with the blackbox controller but I still like doing it
I wouldn't recommend homing between tool changes - if your homing switches/sensors aren't super accurate you could end up with a (very small) change in your XY co-ordinates. Alex.

I suppose actually unless steps are lost then the machine must be basically where it is supposed to be anyway. Thanks again for the help and advice. Success. I used both the smoothing and the openbuilds post processor and no more whining tools. Also it shaved almost 1/3 of the time off of a project. Great result for me. Thank you to all who helped, what a great forum and members! Jim.
