Any one purchase this one yet, is it any better? I am too interested as it's light and inexpensive to replace.

    "5000mm x 5mm of 3M timing belt 3mm pitch

This belt is made from polyurethane, steel reinforced, extruded endless.
Long service life, bearing wear and tear, resistant to oil, heat
Good anti-cracking performance, and small extending rate
    Good surface without crack "

HTD 3M Timing Belt 5m (W=5mm) for CNC Robotics etc..

    Found on ebay

    Nice pics some great ideas,
We will probably go with GT3 belts sooner rather than later,
know what you mean with the grub screws, not up to the job, infact
I have found this with the whole CNC kit. a bit more thought on quality and it would be so much better

@P. Koon Those are nice looking belts, I suspect the steel reinforcement would help reduce belt stretch. From my limited knowledge on the subject though I was under the impression belt with the GT tooth profile is more accurate. Would be nice if you could get that belt in GT2 style.

@John foale, would be interested to know what issues you've had to overcome on your build. Apart from the belt slip issue mentioned above, I've not had any major issues with mine. The Z-axis could be a bit more rigid though, I'm able to deflect the tool quite easily by hand, so far hasn't been an issue cutting plywood.

Kress spindle holder far to thin resulting in movment of the Kress spindle during operation,I had to get a after market one and fit it to the Z plate,
flexing in the X beam a problem I notice many people have this on 1500mm machines
I would of liked more bed supports on a 1500mm machine 2 is not enough, we had to make our own

Supplier issues: (remember this was a complete kit)
Nowhere near enough Stepper cable supplied
No relay supplied to operate the Spindle from the control box-mach3
    No cable chain supplied

From my experience the steel reinforced belts (typically Gates SynchroPower) need to be operated well within the manufacturers recommendations. Any deviation (in my case increasing the axis acceleration beyond 0.6G's) can cause catastrophic failure where the bonding between the individual teeth and the reinforcing wire starts to break down. Although the overall belt may not stretch and the teeth appear in perfect condition they start to exhibit axial elasticity.

I now avoid this type of wire reinforced belt construction in favor of the Kevlar (or similar) reinforced types.

Failed to order enough T3/20T pulleys! Anyone have an STL file for such a critter? I can print in carbon fibre a substitute till after the holidays. All that is lacking to have my 1000 x 650mm operational. My first CNC Mill, but have built four 3D printers. Thanks. Steve

Does anyone know where I can find a Steps Per Inch Calculator that I can use with these belts? Everything I've found is for the GT2 or smaller belts and they are all based on the millimeter.
