    The C-Beam® Gantry Plate shown on the X-axis may not provide sufficient rigidity to prevent flexing of the Z-axis because of its narrow grip. I would suggest using one that grips the outer edges of the C-beam like the XLarge C-Beam Gantry Plate.

    If you use the xlarge c beam plate, you can face the x axis lead screw away from the cutting area

    Good call. I see your point. I think I will have the same problem with the Z axis. One thing I didn't include on the CAD drawing was I have a 250mm 20x60 V-Slot plate attached to the Z axis cart where the router will be bolted. I was hoping that would provide the rigidity needed. With this being v1, I am sure there will be many "ah-hah" moments.

    Wouldn't I need two XL Plates? One on the lead screw side with the anti-backlast nut and one on the back....essentially sandwiching the C-Beam?

    Twist, is the main enemy of the CNC. This is front and back movement from the tip of the cutter, running into the Z-axis, into the X-axis and then the Y-axis. An accumulative event which needs to be stopped, as best can be, at the Z-axis.

    If I were to purchase C-Beam XL plates, would I need 2 per axis? Or would a set on the X axis be sufficient?

    Depends on the weight of the router.

    I have a Dewalt DW611. Do you think my setup is stout enough if I take shallow passes at slow speeds until I can raise the funds (trying to form non-profit) for the beefier plates?

    I have modified the XL C-Beam plate and C-Beam end plate to make a single unit for the Y-axis. I am thinking if I cut a set of these out, that will solve some excess parts issues and by mounting a XL C-Beam plate on the backside of the C-Beam to this arm, I should get that rigidity I am looking for. Thoughts?
