Custom built machine. I am however using blackbox x32 and the cnc interface and power supply from open builds.

The current issue I am having is when I manually set my zero and go to start a job it doesnt start from where i set my zero it goes to some random spot completely away from the board and starts. I do not have any endstops installed btw not sure if that is needed but I would think not if i am manually setting my zero.

you MUST 'fake the home' How to 'Fake the home'
you must also calibrate the machine, setting zero, even homing, is useless if it is not moving the correct distances. Unplug the Interface, plug in a PC with USB, run CONTROL and use the calibration wizard.
Use a good steel ruler over the longest distance you can measure for the calibration. HOWTO Calibrate your CNC Machine for MACH3 or GRBL

You did not mention what CAM you are using. If you have correctly faked the home and calibrated, and still have a problem, then we need the CAD and CAM files for analysis

I have not tried fake the home method. I should also state I'm running belts on x and y axis and lead screw on z axis not ball screws I notice most of the openbuilds machines run screws. Not sure if I need to adjust steps per mm or not

Yes, you absolutely have to calibrate your machine. The steps/mm will be way different for your z axis than your x and y since they use belts.

I see what you were saying the fake the home method is the calibration of the steps. I did that this morning and it seems to be working. I only pulled off a quick 10 min cut for a test before I left for work this morning but seems to be working correctly. I will try more later today and most likely start playing with speeds afterwards. Thabk you guys for the help
