Many, many proven machines in the wild that are doing all the same projects that other more costly variants are doing, but it really comes down to weighing out your preference.
As with all rails it's always a good idea to keep them clean. With all the machines here at HQ we do a bit of Maintenace from time to time by going through with some silicone spray lube on to a rag and from time to time wipe down the rails and wheels as well as spray the leads screws.
We also make sure that all the connections on the flex couplings are tight to the lead screw and motor shafts, and making sure the eccentrics are snug and that has keep these machines all running strong for years, cracking out some incredible projects!
One cool idea from 5hp is a carriage brush that keeps any debris off the rail as the machine is working
    Hope this helps

Is there any recommendation for a spindle which will work best with the 1515?

Oh, I already have that one. I'm talking about an actual spindle not a trim router motor.

VFD spindles are often troublesome (hard to setup, cheap VFDs lack filtering that cause EMI issues and even damage controllers, not as reliable as you think, race to the bottom often leaving you with bearing and runout issues)

Thus, no, we don't have a recommendation.

I like the structure and rigidity of the LEAD 1515, but due to shop space that size is not an option. I am considering a 1575x900 foot print machine. I will need to tilt the machine, about 31degrees from the wall, to fit my space. I would use the higher torque steppers for the Y-axis. Am I out in left field with my plans, or is it doable?
