This morning I started a new project in oak 220x550x35mm. I had already put the plank on the table yesterday and applied cleats. I also had already determined the 0 point yesterday. Started Control this morning, homed and started flattening the workpiece. I flattened both the top and the bottom, a total of 9 passes.

When that was done I took the workpiece off the table, vacuumed it and then I reattached the workpiece to the table in another place. I used the probe to determine the 0 point and wanted to start the +20mm bit in Y so I jogged back 20mm but what I saw in the DRO were very different numbers.

So back to my 0 point and try again and again it was different from what I had entered. I scratched my head because I couldn't understand what went wrong. After a few more tries, I finally found the cause. The jog mode was set to continuous while I always use incremental myself. Once I changed that, everything went back to normal.

I have been using another computer since Friday and have set Control on it and now it seems that the default setting of Control is set to inch and to continuous. I'm glad I found this because now I can move on.
I'm writing this so that others who experience the same can look up what went wrong with me.
    Yours sincerely
    Bart

once you have selected mm mode and the jog you want, close the program and it will save those setttings for the next startup
