This morning I started a 3d workpiece and turned a contour first. Then I started the rouching and both operations went fine. At the end of each operation, the spindle returns to the 0 point where I replace my milling cutters. After the rouching I installed a 1mm tapered ball nose in the machine and wanted to run the probe and to do that I send the machine 20mm to the right and 20mm back but the machine went much further than that. Now I think my calibration is off. When I now enter 1mm, the machine moves 6.6mm to the right and when I then send the machine back 1mm, it only moves back 5.6mm and therefore remains at 1mm. All this is reflected in the DRO's and when I look at the tip of my cutter it also matches what I see on the part.

Another problem I have is with Control starting up every morning when I get behind the machine (I'm retired).
For a short while, the Control icon was always at the bottom of the taskbar in the hidden icons. This has not always been the case in the last two weeks. Fortunately, there is an icon on the bereau sheet and I can launch it there. However, now he doesn't do that anymore. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the openbuilds app twice this morning, but now I can't start the app at all. I get a white screen and nothing else. I don't have the faintest idea what's going on. I've been a loyal user of Control for the past few years, but I don't know what else I can do now. Is there anyone who can help me with this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Bert

Do an uninstall, but also clean up the old installation directories of any remnants. Then do a reboot so the PC comes up fresh and clean, and reinstall CONTROL

Will look into it, should still just start in the tray

Check calibration from Wizards and Tools > Calibration, but also make sure you are in Incremental mode. 6.6mm on the DRO doesn't line up with a 1mm move from 0 (DRO is commanded move, not actual, so not related to calibration which is commanded versus actual)

hehe, Peter, you never tell people where those files to cleanup are, so for reference, they are in
    C:\Users\{yourusernamehere}\AppData\Local\Programs\OpenBuildsCONTROL

    Hello peter,
Thank you for your answer. This morning I restarted the computer and now the icon was back in the hidden icons and I was able to start Control again. It's so strange, shortly after my computer started up, it also turned off again and that's because the battery is about to expire. In any case, I always have to have my computer on the charger when it is connected to the machine, but in the last month the computer sometimes just switches off if it is not connected to the power. I don't know if this has anything to do with it. For now it's working again and I can get back to work. If this happens again, I might be able to get things right again with the link David sent.
    Yours sincerely
    Bart.

    Hi David,

This morning I restarted the computer and now I find my icon in the hidden icons again. It's working again and I'm happy with it. If it happens again I will use your link to remove everything from the computer and download Control again.
    Yours sincerely
    Bert

    Hello Peter,

the machine is working again. The calibration was also as it should be. I still don't understand what went wrong yesterday. I will of course keep an eye on it and if it happens again I know what to do. Thank you for your effort and your answer.
    Yours sincerely
    Bart

Only for "only me" installs, if you pick All Users its under Program Files. Some linux distros put it in /opt. Some in /usr/local. Rather than list all possibilities, no one has yet come back with a Where, so might be safe to assume people figure it out

    Hello peter,
That may be the cause, but I always only install 'for me'. I have now turned a complete 3D workpiece with the machine and everything went well so I am happy again. By the way, there is a possibility that the updates will be announced in the forum group. The fact is that I have almost no internet connection in my shed, so I have to go home every time with the computer to install the update, otherwise it will take forever.
    Thanks for your answer.
    With kind regards
    Bart
P.S. the next update I will click "for everyone".

No no issue, all fine, was just pointing out I can't always give people the exact path. Irrevelant to your issue.

    No need! Read what I wrote in context of David's comment to me - its between me and him that one (;

Not likely on the forum, but you can use Github:

Go to GitHub - OpenBuilds/OpenBuilds-CONTROL: OpenBuilds CONTROL: Download from https://software.openbuilds.com

Click the Watch icon along the top > Select CUSTOM

    Hello Peter,
After another new version of Control, I'm wrong again. I can't start Control again. This morning when I started up the computer I was able to open control and Home, change a bit Probe Z and then I wanted to jog back to my zero point.

Then he did exactly the same as last time, he gave completely different numbers than I had entered. And of course you want to get back to work as soon as possible. So I closed Control, turned off my computer and then started it again, but now I can't start Control at all.

I have disabled my VPN and firewall and even then I can't get it to work. I have uninstalled the app twice and
reinstalled twice but it doesn't help. Sometimes it starts up but then I get a white screen and nothing else. Now I don't know what to do to restart my work. So I want to ask you if you can help me again.
I followed your advice from last time and now I get an alert that there is a new version. Can you say approximately when the release time of the new versions is because if it comes in when I start up my computer in the shed in the morning then I'm afraid things will go wrong again.
    Thank you in advance
    Yours sincerely
    Bert
