Just opened the open control software and it downloaded the new update. restarted everything and fired up the software. I was curious about the wizard things that was new, but as soon as I click on the "Surfacing / Flattening wizard" the program just freezes. installed the latest drivers for my GFX card and looked at windows update for any other update and made the updates available. restarted the computer and it still does the same thing.
When you open the wizard, or when you proceed after entering parameters. If its the latter, you have some value set incorrectly or left empty. If however its the first one, let us know and we can dig deeper
The wizard window does not even open up, the program freezes before it even pops up. The dropdown menu is still open and can't get closed again. I have tried to reinstall but it didn't help. Even tried to install it on my windows 10 computer and its the same here. So 2 different computers and the same problem.
Does work fine here, so that is odd. Open the Devtools (Ctrl+Shift+i) > watch the Console tab when clicking the menu item - see if theres any errors. Could also be that an earlier run of the wizard was ran with invalid data, we save last used values, so that could cause issues. You can clear that from Devtools > Application Tab > Local Storage
The last wizard I ran was with the previous version and that ran absolutely fine. I opened the console and ohh man, got a never ending log file. It seems to loop this all the time. I have a windows tablet with windows 11 and on my other PC I got windows 10 pro. The logfile I saved was 8Mb big of all text
Give that one a go please, does look like something corrupted in local storage. Devtools (Ctrl+Shift+i) > Application tab > Local Storage > 127.0.0.1:3000 > Look for the "lastSurfacingTool" key and right-click > delete it. Hit F5 to refresh, then try the menu again.
Today I updated the control software to the latest version (automatic update), I run the software and everything worked great until I tried to run the surfacing/flatting wizard, the control software then locks up and does not load the settings dialogue for the surfacing wizard and I have to close the program as all function is lost, I find this very strange but equally annoying but the software was fine until the latest update V1.0.353. Is this a known issue with the latest build? I'm running windows 10 which is updated daily. Is it possible to roll back to the previous version as I'm running my machine for my small business and depend on flatting pieces before carving?
See Control 1.0.350 Wizard & Tools crash But if you could do me a favor - copy and paste your key here before you delete it so we can see if we can add improved detection of invalid stored key
I had the exact same issue, did the dev tools reset and the wizard loads fine now. But after running the surfacing wizard about 3/4 of the way through it is throwing an error. I have done this twice now with the same result trying to surface a board. Luckily I could just restart the spindle and then jog for the little bit of the job left to finish.
Can you post a screenshot of your parameters as entered? Possibly entered some negative numbers in the entry fields?
I see 2 minus signs -- instead of - which is exactly what the error message is pointing out, invalid format of the number
Great. But please guys, next person - before your delete, just copy it out for us to investigate please
Latest build 1.0.363 Freezes EVERY time I simply click on surfacing wizard in the drop down. Only option is to force close.

Thanks, providing this information, has helped indentify the bug, we have it fixed and released as V1.0.364 - see v1.0.364 · OpenBuilds/OpenBuilds-CONTROL@a33135a for the commit log It wasn't related to the recent addition of multipass cutting as suspected, but instead to the Coolant option that was added way back in v1.0.339 - so thanks for the help! Without the sample key we'd not have picked up the relation. You can either delete the key or update to v1.0.364 to continue working with the wizard
