Researching to decide which cnc router will work best for me. I'm really liking the Open Builds 1515 but I'm concerned with the space needed. Is it possible, or even a good idea to build one with a wider X axis than the Y? I want to be able to run a door through it (3068) and engrave on the rails. I've read a little about tiling but I'm not sure this design is ridged enough. I'm thinking something in the 1500 x 600 range. I want it to utilize lead screws for the drive. What's your thoughts?

The design is fine for tiling. But I probably wouldn't go less than 1500x750 as that'll leave you 22.5" usable in the Y direction. The longer you make the Y-axis the more accurate it will be with tiling as it will allow for a longer guide edge. 1500x1000 should even be a consideration.

Whatever you decide, contact the OpenBuilds Parts Store to get a price. Custom sizes are no problem for them.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to reply. It gives me the assurance to move forward. I like your suggestion for 1000. I'd have room for that.
