I'm done using the mouse as an e-stop. Anyone out there can point me to an official doc or a good how to? Thanks!
And if you're just looking to stop the machine without using the mouse, you can use the ESC key keyboard shortcut. More shortcuts listed in Wizards and Tools -> Customize Keyboard Shortcuts.
That's for hooking up a door switch for the enclosure: See docs:blackbox:connect-door-sensor [OpenBuilds Documentation] What do you need. The E in E-stop means Emergency. Do you want to rely on a firmware based input while an endmill is chopping off your fingers? Or would you prefer to cut all power? If you want a button for "oh no I forgot to zero" that's the Abort button in Control which you can easily hit the ESC key on your keyboard for.
OK, I get it. My machine is small and intentionally weak and I cut nothing harder than wood so shutting off the power seems to be a bit of an over reaction. My problem is I keep snapping off bits. After homing I'm always hitting a clamp or fixture and would like some kind of large button that just does a halt. I was looking for documentation on the "DOOR" contacts on the Black Box. That might be closer to what I want. Thanks so much for hearing me out. I really love using this machine, it is making my dreams come true. I'm putting in the hours and seeing the results, I couldn't be more pleased with how far I've come.
Just reiterating in case anyone else stumbles on this - be warned that this approach does not provide any margin of safety against any accident. DOOR is just a firmware pause!
