I was setting up my new interface and was going through the steps listed in the documentation. I put the device in bootloader mode to update the firmware through CONTROL. I was successful in updating the firmware to 1.51, but now the device is stuck in “Device Test Mode” which does not enable me to do anything (no buttons work, resetting just relaunches device test mode). I haven’t seen any documentation anywhere about how to exit this mode and run it properly. The interface had been able to jog my machine when I first plugged it into the black box, but after updating the firmware I appear to be stuck. Anyone know how to fix it?

Please follow the onscreen instructions. At step 5 its waiting for you to Insert a USB drive. Step 6 will have you remove the drive. Step 7 will ask you to reinsert the Drive (Testing insertion, removal, and reinsertion). From there onward it will ask you to press certain buttons, and confirm if you can hear the beeper and feel the vibrations.

This shakedown test allows you to test all the Interface Hardware. If it fails the tests, contact the Store. If it passes all tests, it proceeds to normal operating mode.

If someday you want to rerun the tests, hold the MODE button while it boots - at the screen with the Big logo.

Thanks Peter! That got me through that step, but now I am having issues connecting to wifi (the Interface access point does not launch), and I still cannot get it to communicate with my Blackbox. I am now getting the error "Grbl ..... [not connected]. Check connection to AUX1 serial connector on the Blackbox, then press reset on this device to retry the connection" .

Make sure to chronologically follow all steps in the Interface documentation, https://docs.openbuilds.com/interface - skipping some steps can lead to connection failure.

Also note Wifi Setup (as step 3.1) follows AFTER connecting (at step 2.1.2) in the Documentation.

Sort out connection first, only then proceed to setup Wifi. Do not skip steps - they depend on earlier steps. The WIFI AP for example, is only properly running once properly booted up, which only happens if could successfully connect to the Blackbox
