I'm starting to pull out my hair. I have been going over all the GRBL settings trying to set the GRBL variables to fine tune the machine to my liking. I have saved my settings so often, but whenever I start up my lead 1010 not all settings are the same as I programmed. 1. limit switches are turned off where I want them on 2. I cannot change to inches 3. I lose all settings to undefined. ex. X limit, Y limit on soft limits I'm using the latest version Help please
What actions do you perform after Saving. Next time you come back, before you see what changed, what do you do? open CONTROL, Click Grbl Settings tab, then?
Peter" i went through the process again, went to GRBL settings, reentered all the GRBL choices for my lead 1010 machine. Whatever happened to the factory GRBL settings supplied with the 1010 machine ?, been so long ago that I set it up (busy with other stuff) I honestly dont remember if there were default settings with it. Once I entered the new GRBL settings I clicked on "save to firmware" (which has the red exclamation mark) This time I get GRBL error 10 "soft limits cannot be enabled without homing also enabled" note: $20=1 was enabled all my GRBL settings lost again even limit switches off again I've been fighting this all day - would like to know what I am doing wrong Tom
Set $22=Enabled first, click Save, then come back and Enable $20. Grbl NEEDS homing Enabled and working before you can enable Soft limits, as explained in detail here: gnea/grbl You gave it "invalid" information (explained above) so it basically rejected a couple settings. Read the Grbl Wiki: gnea/grbl Select your machine from the dropdown, Tick "Limit switches installed" as you want to use your Switches. Then Click Save. Thats all it should take for a standard LEAD1010. Don't bother with Soft Limits as a beginner... Our default profiles cater for the majority userbase, so you don't have to figure out the hard stuff (yet) You overwrote the default Grbl settings back in the day. Doesn't matter, you should use those anyway. Follow the instructions in the Wizard. Step 1 "Load Default Settings" circled in red in screenshot above...
Right on the top toolbar If you have a LEAD1010, you select LEAD1010. If you do that, and the Save button doesn't enable its because already have a LEAD1010 profile on it (ie, move on and start testing and making stuff. You have a profile loaded, done. On to the next step) Best you can do for yourself is a) Read the Grbl wiki gnea/grbl and (b) watch the LEAD1010 Wiring and Software video: Software is discussed from 56min49s onward in the video
ok, understood, all good now except I could not find anything in GRBL relating to why I cannot change $13=1 for inches. In GRBL i change it to enable, save the change in firmware but it does not allow me to change. That doesnt really matter at this point. I'm finally at the point where I am confident In running my lead 1010 with regards to homing and work related position. Thanks Peter
Leave $13 on millimeter mode (its advanced, internal reporting) If you want to see Inches in the user interface, change it here:
